On Sunday, November 12th, the evening before the event in Tokyo, a wine dinner will be held with the wines of the Piedmontese producers at the prestigious La Ciau restaurant in Tokyo.

While the event in Singapore and Beijing has been for the very first time, the Tokyo event was a confirmation after the positive experiences in 2015 and 2016: the aim of these initiatives was to present the very best wine productions of Italy to the sector professionals, with a specific focus on Piedmontese wines.

Japan, fourth wine importer in the world in terms of value, represents an extremely interesting market: the GDP per capita is much more higher than the Italian one; moreover, Japanese consumers are definitively more prepared as far as wine is concerned and consider extremely important that wine represents a territory and its peculiarities. In this, Italian wines take a clear advantage, also thanks to the fact that in Japan there is a great enthusiasm for everything coming from our country.

Singapore is a real economic power and one of the most financial markets of Asia. In the last 15-20 years, the wine market has almost doubled and the rhythm of growth continues to be around 5% each year. Moreover, the citizens of the little city-state are much more open to the international cuisine and Italian wine takes advantage from the many Italian restaurants spread in the city, as it happens in many other countries.

China is the fifth wine importing country in the world and the fourth in terms of value and it’s expected to grow rapidly over the next few years. Despite the growth of the Italian wine imports in China in recent years, Italy still occupies a marginal role compared to its main competitors.
