On the 22nd and 24th November 2014 “I Vini del Piemonte” and “Strada del Barolo” renewed, for the fourth consecutive year, their participation in the “Italian Wine and Gourmet Days” of Stockholm.
“I Vini del Piemonte” and “Strada del Barolo” took part in the 13th edition of the “Italian Wine and Gourmet Days” of Stockholm as guest region. The great news this year was the participation, in addition to the 14 wine producers from Piedmont, of 13 Piedmontese food producers together with a vermouth producer and 7 wine and food producing companies of Aosta Valley, thanks to a partnership signed with CEIPiemonte and Unioncamere Piemonte.
As shown by the high and continuously growing rate of consumption, Sweden is one of the countries where quality Italian wines are most appreciated: the Swedes, in fact take great interest in wine culture and especially love top quality Italian food and wines. The Piedmont red wines are among the most popular; it is no coincidence that, according to various sets of statistics, the wines of Piedmont take first place for Scandinavian sales out of all the Italian regions.
During the event the producers were put directly in contact with both the representatives of the state wine monopoly (which manages sales to private bodies), and with the companies and importers that manage the importation to restaurants and hotels and resale to the Ho.Re.Ca sector, which represents the second supply channel of alcoholic beverages in the country.
As in past editions, the frame of the event was the Stockholm Grand Hotel, one of the most prestigious hotels in the world, located on the seafront and boasting great panoramic views. In the Grand Hotel “gallery” a specific area was prepared and here the producers presented the great wines and the top quality food products of Piedmont and Aosta Valley to Swedish wine and food enthusiasts as well as to professionals of the wine & food sector.
The two-day event in Stockholm was divided into two different parts:
Saturday 22nd November
Opening to paying guests
Three different sessions, from 12.00am to 8.00pm. During the day, a contest gave the opportunity to win a weekend in Langhe, sponsored by Strada del Barolo.
Monday 24th November
Opening to professionals of the sector
From 12.00am to 5.00pm, a workshop with trade operators, otherwise difficult to reach: representatives of importing companies, restaurateurs, hotels, catering societies with licence to import, wine monopoly representatives and their shops, sommeliers, journalists of the wine and wine tourism sector and Swedish sommelier associations.
The event enjoyed great success, with some 900 tickets sold for the public session and more than 350 professionals taking part in the workshop.
«The results obtained by our consortium have shown that teamwork is the greatest asset to meet the challenge of global competition”, says Andrea Faccio, president of ‘I Vini del Piemonte’. “Moreover, in recent years, in addition to joining the forces of our producers, we have established alliances and friendships with the different players of the food and wine sector. More and more, we aim at promoting together the wines and the local cuisine, and the land where these products come from. We are therefore extremely satisfied with the partnership with CEIPiemonte, Unioncamere Piemonte and Chambre Valdôtaine, because we firmly believe that an alliance with players who share our same values and vision for top quality products is both useful and increasingly necessary to best represent the Italian lifestyle».
