Barolo & Friends: Piedmont discovers Poland

Che in Polonia stia rapidamente crescendo l’interesse per il vino è cosa nota, ma il successo riscosso a Varsavia ha davvero rappresentato un segnale forte e incoraggiante.

On 10th September, Consorzio “I Vini del Piemonte” landed in Warsaw with “Barolo & Friends Event”, the food and wine kermesse which tours around the main European capitals, showcasing the very best of the regional production. The event was at the Meridien Bristol Hotel with several appointments organized both for professionals – importers, dealers, journalists – and wine lovers and enthusiasts.

Professional sessions

The opening of “Barolo & Friends” was dedicated to professionals with a double seminar on Piedmontese wines, hosted by Tomasz Prange, journalist of Wino Magazyn, the most important wine magazine of Poland. The first meeting was an in-depth analysis on the Barolo “crus”; the second presented the main Piedmontese grape varieties.

At the end of the seminar’s schedule there was a business lunch where participants had the opportunity to meet and talk to producers and to “discover” more secrets of their production.

In the early afternoon, in the Reception Hall, about 30 Piedmontese producers and as many counters welcomed the Polish professionals to present and offer a tasting of their production, talk and explain all the characteristics of their wines.

At 12.30am there was space for the very best of the Piedmontese food production with a seminar – also in this case dedicated to the sector professionals – with a focus on a wide range of Piedmontese products.

From 2 pm took place a seminar dedicated to the incoming tourism in Piedmont, dedicated to professionals and lead by the director of the Tourist Board of Langhe and Roero area and the director of the Barolo wine trail – Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa.
